To distribute your music or audio content to digital stores like Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon, you must use a digital music distribution service (aggregator) because major platforms do not accept direct uploads from individual artists.
Prepare Your Files and Info
- Audio File: Export your final mixed and mastered track as a high-quality
.WAVfile. - Cover Art: Create square artwork (usually 3000 x 3000 pixels in JPEG or PNG format) that meets store guidelines.
- Metadata: Gather your song title, artist name, genre, language, songwriter credits, and release date.
- Codes: Obtain or let your distributor auto-generate your ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) for the track and UPC/EAN code for the release
Choose a Distribution Service
- Paid/Subscription Distributors: Services like DistroKid or iMusician charge an annual or per-release fee while letting you keep 100% of your royalties.
Free/Commission Distributors: Platforms like Amuse or other regional aggregators might take a percentage cut of your earnings instead of an upfront subscription
